Fun stops and eats in northern California!
Napa Valley Olive Oil Manufacturing Company – St. Helena. Walk into this tiny family run store and you’ll dream of going to Italy! The aromas, the hanging salumi, cheeses and business simplicity has you lingering over the goods.
New Clairvaux Vineyard – Vina. This winery is located on the Abbey of New Clairvaux Trappist monks monastery in a small farming community 20 miles north of Chico just west of Highway 99. On the grounds is also a chapter house still in the making. While you’re roaming around in that area of California, also tour Chico’s Sierra Nevada Brewery.
Tomales Bay Oyster Company – Marshall. A delicious way to spend a day on the coast. Plan ahead for an appointment and stop by Pt. Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company that’s just a couple miles south on Highway 1. Update: visitors can no longer picnic on the premises – fresh oysters are still available for purchase.
Winters – Yolo County. This tiny town is full of history and food.
Pt. Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company – Pt. Reyes Station. See rolling pastures and content cows. Tours by appointment only to get a glimpse of their cheesemaking and milking operations. Stop by and get some cheese on the way to Tomales Bay Oyster Company.
Ella’s Dining Room and Bar – Sacramento. Modern décor. Varied menu. Special dining restaurant.
